La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée has adopted the Credit Union Code for the protection of personal information, related policies and procedures, and appointed a privacy officer. You are entitled to review the Code at any time, access your personal information, or contact the privacy officer about a privacy issue or concern. Through these actions, what has been our acceptedpractice becomes our documented commitment to you, the member.
Your personal information
La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée holds personal information about its members to help meet and maintain the highest standards of financial service. This information can include your name, address, age, income, use of accountsand credit history, as well as other information needed for your account services.
We obtain this information from you directly, and from the product and service arrangements you have made with or through us. Information is also obtained with your permission from credit bureaus, other financial institutions andfrom the references you provide us.
HOW OUR PRIVACY CODE PROTECTS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée has requested and the member has provided both personal and business information (except health information) plus an ongoing authorization to verify and/or collect additional information(such as that available through a credit bureau, employers, etc.)
La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée uses such information for thefollowing purposes: - To understand your needs and to develop, offer and manage products and services that meet those needs;
- To determine your suitability and your eligibility for member products and services;
- To evaluate your credit standing and to share or exchange reports and information with credit reporting agencies;
- To detect and prevent fraud, and to help safeguard the financial interests of the credit union and its members;
- To meet legal and regulatory requirements.
La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée acknowledges its duty to keep all member personal information in secure form and in facilities accessible only to La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée staff and other authorized personnel who are bound by oaths and to similar agreements to maintain themember's privacy and confidentiality of such information.
La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée may share the member's personal information as necessary with other companies, affiliates and/or subsidiaries or service providers that are under contract with La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée to provide financial products or services and when specifically requested by members, but La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée will not sell, rent, barter or share the member's information to or with any otherpersons companies or agencies.
La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée will share member's informationonly in the following additional circumstances: - To lawyers, accountant, auditors;
- Where required or allowed by la Caisse Populaire de ShippaganLtée personal information privacy policy and any applicable legislation.
The member has the right to view both paper and electronic files containing the member's personal information, to review file contents for accuracy andto indicate any items in need of correction.
The member may choose not to receive unsolicited direct marketing materials or contacts by mail, phone or email by person and/or by type of product. To make any of these choices, the member will visit la Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée, call or send an email and provide the applicable particulars. The member acknowledges that La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée may still include newsletters and marketing materials with other required communicationssent to members (such as statements of account, renewal letter etc.)
HERE IS A SUMMARY OF THE 10 PRINCIPLES OF THE CREDIT UNION CODE FOR THE PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION. - Accountability - We have designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for our compliance with the principles of the Code
- Identifying Purposes - Before or at the time we ask you for personal information, we will identify the purposes for which it will be used or disclosed.
- Consent - We require your knowledge and consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information
- Limiting Collection - The collection of personal information is limited only to the purposes we have identified to you.
- Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention - We will only use or disclose your personal information with your consent (or as required by law). And we will only retain your information as long as necessary to fulfill identified purposes.
- Accuracy - We will keep your information accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
- Safeguards - We will protect your personal information with appropriate security safeguards.
- Openness - We will make specific, understandable information readily available to you about our personal information policies and practices.
- Individual access - When you request it, we will give you access to the existence, use, and disclosure of your information. You are entitled to question its accuracy and completeness.
- Challenging Compliance - You are entitled to question the Privacy Officer about our compliance with any of these principles.

- Verbally
Preferably in writing.
La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée provides services in conjunction with financial services partners within the Co-operative financial services group companies. These companies include all organizations that espouse credit union goals and values and provide useful and valuable member services.
The attached form provide you with an opportunity to confirm in writing either your full, limited or withdrawing consent upon the use and disclosure of your personal information. You can mail, fax or personally return it. It is important for you to know that if you limit or withdraw your consent, La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltd will not be able to provide you with a related product, service or information that could be of value to you.
You have 30 days to provide us with your written consent or limit or withdraw your consent; otherwise we will assume that we have your implied consent for the continuing use of your personal information for purposes described within this brochure.
You can limit or withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual obligations. For example, La Caisse Populaire de Shippagan Ltée is required by law to provide a record of your interest earning information to the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.
